Our goal at Howdy is to provide the best experience and tools for designing, developing and operating conversational software. By adding Botmetrics to our suite of tools and services, we can offer our customers not only the building blocks necessary to design and develop their bot, but the integrated analytics and customer intelligence tools that every successful bot needs.

3, 2, 1… LIFTOFF 🚀

When we started Howdy, there were very few tools or resources available to people interested in building bots, so we set about to build them and get them into the hands of other developers. In cofounders Arun Thampi and Sandeep Chivukula, we’re happy to have found another team who shares our goals and approach.

Botkit and Botmetrics are both multi-platform, open source, and enterprise-friendly products. Our teams both set out to create developer-friendly tools that can be used by companies of all sizes. Our customers already use the tools we provide to build all sorts of conversational software, from productivity bots that live in your favorite messaging app to intelligent voice skills in your home.

Now, one of the largest libraries of bot technology in the world is hosted under one roof and available to everyone. We are eager to support, extend, and integrate these tools in order to fill the world with friendly, useful robots.

Features that every bot needs

Botkit has already been installed by developers more than 250,000 times, and now powers tens of thousands of apps in the wild on Cisco Spark, Facebook, Slack, and Twilio SMS. It is one of the most popular and visible projects on Github. Meanwhile, Botmetrics has measured and recorded information about hundreds-of-millions of interactions. We know what bot developers need.

Future versions of Botkit and Botkit Studio will make it easier than ever to use Botmetrics. Features like customizable analytics dashboards, audience segmentation, and scheduled push notifications will soon be built-in to every bot from the start. These new capabilities represent a big power-up for bots, providing functionality that would otherwise have to be custom built by developers, or pieced together from an array of third party vendors.

Developers everywhere are saying, “sweet fancy Moses, now I don’t have to build that!

Companies who can’t or don’t want to use third-party hosted services have something to be excited about. Botkit+Botmetrics is now the only full stack solution for building conversational software that can be operated entirely on premises, perfect for companies handling sensitive data or mission critical operations.

What’s Next?

For current customers of Botmetrics, things will continue to operate as is for now. The Botmetrics service, as well as the open source project, now live in Austin, Texas. Over the next few months, we’ll share how the roadmaps for Botmetrics and Botkit will begin to overlap. We invite our thriving 5500-member community to get involved.

Thanks to Arun and Sandeep at Botmetrics for the hard work they’ve done. We’re happy to have you on our team! Read their post about the acquisition here.

Developers can get started today with Botmetrics and Botkit by adding the official middleware plugin.

Build your next bot with Botkit Studio, a collaborative development environment with built-in conversation design tools, debugging tools, a real time message console, integrations with Microsoft LUIS, Glitch, Heroku and more. Come talk about Botmetrics in our bot developer community.
